November 25, 2017	Leap Agility Club of Central Mass agility trials - W. Springfield, MA: It's been quite some time since Dazzle ran agility, but Margaret led her back to the Big E today to give it another try and she did great! Dazzle had a clean run in Open Jumpers Preferred with a second place finish! That's Dazzle's first leg towards a new title, but better than that, she got her feet wet again with something she already knows. It's good to see her running and jumping in competition again.
October 1, 2017	Westbury Kennel Association dog show, Oyster Bay, NY: Tripper is awarded Best of Breed (handled by Margaret) by judge Ann Yuhasz. OK that's no big deal since he was the only Field Spaniel entered in the show. But later in the Sporting Group, Tripper earns a fourth place finish under judge Heather Brennan. This was Tripper's first ever Group placement! We're elated that he achieved such a high award and we're hoping that maybe some day he might do it again (or maybe something better).
August 14, 2017	Harrisburg KC dog show, Harrisburg, PA: Its the third leg in Beginner Novice Obedience for our young Fied Spaniel, Tripper! Handled by Terry, Tripper earned a score of 189 and with that comes a new title. Tripper is now known as CH Nautica's Day Tripper "BN" RN CGC. We were happy to make the trip to Harrisburg to support the Mid-Atlantic Field Spaniel Club Summer Specialty. Dazzle and Tripper are celebrating together with new toys and doggy cupcakes that we picked up for them at the show site.
May 21, 2017	Dog Agility Club of Long Island, Spring Obedience and Rally Trials, Bayshore, NY - it's Beginner Novice Obedience for Tripper. With a score of 191 Tripper (handled by Terry) earns his second leg towards his BN! There was a nice entry at today's trial and Tripper had the 5th highest score. We're crossing our fingers that Tripper will complete his title sometime in the not too distant future. Good job!
March 30, 2017	2017 Field Spaniel Specialty, Concord, NC - Tripper shows as a Special in the breed ring. No happy results to report there, but ... Greater Monroe KC, Concord, NC: Dazzle (handled by Margaret) competes in Graduate Novice Obedience. She earns a second place finish and the third leg of her title! Now she's known as: Breezy Hill's Heart N Soul of Islandflats CD "GN" RE NJP CGC. Heck, she made the trip to the Field Spaniel Nationals, and since this was in conjunction with an all breed dog show Dazzle felt that she should also perform. We're so glad she did! We met a lot of people and we saw many Field Spaniels at this Specialty; we had such a nice time! Islandflats is looking forward to next year's Nationals.
March 29, 2017	2017 Field Spaniel National Specialty, Concord, NC - Islandflats treks south for the Field Spaniel Nationals - Tripper's first! Today it's the obedience competition: In Beginner Novice Obedience, Tripper (handled by Terry) scores a 195 and with that comes a big blue rosette and a first place finish! This was Tripper's first time in an obedience competition - (first leg) not too shabby! Later in Rally Novice, Terry and Tripper earn a qualifying score, a bumper leg and a third place finish (yellow rosette). The long drive was certainly worth it!
February 25, 2017	Birthday week continues at Islandflats as we celebrate Tripper's birthday. Our young Field Spaniel becomes two years old today! This was wierd ... we're watching the news on TV this morning when they started playing the Beatles "Day Tripper" after commercial breaks. Perhaps they're celebrating with us? Extra special meals and toys today for both Tripper and Dazzle!
February 21, 2017	Dazzle turns 5 years old today! Islandflats celebrates Dazzle's birthday with extra treats and toys! We're not sure if Dazzle knows what's going on but she and Tripper are having a grand old time with the festivities. Happy Birthday Dazzle!
February 11, 2017	Westminster KC / AKC: Meet and Greet, NYC, NY: This was a day of Meet the Breeds. Dazzle represented the Flat Coated Retriever Society of America, and Tripper represented the Field Spaniel Society of America. There were thousands of people there who wanted to learn more about the many dog breeds, and Islandflats divided our time between two breed booths. Dazzle and Tripper met hundreds of people who asked, "What kind of dog is that?" and "Can I pet him?" They both loved all the attention, and they also loved hanging out with other dogs and people in our breeds. At the end of the day Dazzle and Tripper were super tired (so were we) but we all had so much fun!
February 1, 2017	Today for the first time, Islandflats honors all the dogs in our life who are no longer with us. As you can see from the news we posted over the past two years, we lost several cherished loved ones. From now on, Islandflats will set aside February 1st as our own personal Memorial Day. Our girl Crystal would have turned 15 years old today. She lived with almost every one of our dogs at some point, so it's only fitting that we choose her birthday to honor her, and all our dogs. Godspeed Islandflats dogs. We know you're all playing together the Rainbow Bridge.
